Allusion is not Illusion

You'll pry my books off my cold, dead body. By the time you shift them all I'll be flat and dessicated.

Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake There are some definite objective weaknesses here in terms of character interactions and plot contrivances, but nonetheless it was a quite enjoyable read. Blake's originality good ear for action makes what could easily have been a very run-of-the-mill YA paranormal romance interesting and fresh, and she thankfully avoids some common tropes that make me so often unable to finish books in this genre (stupid girls needing perpetual rescue, abuse masquerading as romance, stupid devices to keep the protagonists from touching). I was also very pleased that she left enough for a sequel without a forced cliffhanger.
